window salad

A couple of weeks ago I tried an experiment. Well, actually, I try an experiment about every day or so, but this one was kinda special. I’d cut up some celery for salad, and took a good long look at that celery stub. Are they called stubs when they come off celery? No matter – you know what I mean. 🙂 Instead of tossing it into the compost bucket, as I usually would have done, I stuck it in a bowl of water and set it in the window. I mean, you never know, right? It could produce a whole new celery head! Well, it could, couldn’t it?

grow, little celery plant. grow!

I was at the kitchen sink tonight, tossing some dishes into it instead of putting them in the dishwasher with the other dishes (sometimes I like to make myself extra work). I looked up at the windowsill, and what do you think I saw????

Yup – something to make a REmissionary’s heart burst with pride. New life from old!!!

*sigh* I could cry.
